Featuring Lynn Terry at ClickNewz!

Written by Marc Smith on Sep 24th, 2008 | Filed under: affiliate marketing, coaching

From time to time I’ll feature a successful internet marketer who’s got it going on. For my inaugural post at Success With Marc, I’m featuring Lynn Terry at ClickNewz!

I once watched LisaNova do a send-up of Twitter on YouTube a few months ago that was pretty funny.  It left me thinking that Twitter was kind of a joke, and I couldn’t imagine why anyone would want to know the answer to “what are you doing?” throughout the day.  That’s especially true for those moments when my answer would have to be “I have no clue”.

How things have changed! As a marketing tool and educational funnel, Twitter is remarkable for brand building and making connections.

I’ve made great connections at Twitter, and it’s where I came across Lynn.  She’s an experienced, successful marketer with a fresh and friendly approach to doing business online.  I’m devouring everything on her site and gaining a lot of value in marketing strategies for affiliate marketing, since my focus in the past has been network marketing.

Lynn shares freely and truly helps other internet marketers go to the next level. As an example, take a look at a post where Lynn lays out exactly how she makes money online in a given month. She shares actual examples of ways she earned money that month through…

  • Passive income through product websites
  • Product reviews
  • Warrior Forum special offers
  • JV partnerships
  • Affiliate promotions
  • Creating and selling her own products

I encourage you to head over and enjoy ClickNewz!

Thanks Lynn! You embody the definition of the success mindset and conversation marketing.

Thought Patterns - Releasing Your Potential

So, I’ll continue this Lou Tice series with the principles around changing your beliefs and releasing your potential. Let’s start with a foundational quote from Lou:

“We act and behave not in accordance with the truth, but the truth as we believe it to be.”

Some children hold back their academic abilities because along the way they began to believe it’s not good to look smart.  Or, a man gains wealth and loses it, because he believes that money doesn’t make you happy.  The truth may be that the little girl is smart and the man can be wealthy and happy, but it doesn’t matter.  You see, we ALWAYS act and behave in accordance with the truth as we believe it to be.

Change your beliefs and you change the way you run your life. Your beliefs are the key to releasing your potential. What you believe about yourself, your business, and your friends and family determine the results in your life.  Like eating junk food leads to poor health results, eating junk thoughts which lead to junk beliefs will give me poor life results.

Lou Tice says,

“The quality of belief that you hold in your mind, detemines the quality of life you have around you.”

If you want something, and you believe, “There’s no way.”, well, guess what? Your subconsious mind blocks out the way.  Your results come from your beliefs.

So, believe it or not…we get to choose our own beliefs. In our mind, it’s only true if we believe it to be true. This is powerful.  I don’t have to believe a truth or someone else’s truth. In fact, T. Harv Eker points out in Secrets of the Millionaire Mind that if a “truth” builds you up or moves you forward, then believe it. If a “truth” holds you back or tears you down, then don’t believe it.  There’s a lot of power in changing beliefs that don’t serve you so that you can release your potential.

If you have trouble changing a limiting belief about yourself, begin by setting an end goal. Don’t worry about “how” you’ll achieve it, just set the end result of something you want to achieve.  Then  work on unconditioning yourself and building your self-efficacy. You’ll be changing your beliefs, and opportunities will begin to happen everywhere.  Our perceptions change and we see new things when our beliefs change. So, as your beliefs change and you go toward your goal, you’ll begin to see the answers to reaching your goal.

“I don’t need to know the how. I need to set the goal, and then I need to work on unconditioning myself inside. And as I do, opportunity happens everywhere.” ~ Lou Tice

Thought Patterns - Why Are You Underliving Your Life?

Written by Marc Smith on Sep 15th, 2008 | Filed under: coaching, success mindset

you are pure potential When Lou Tice begins a training event, he usually uses a quotation to help people discover where they’re at and where they can be.

“Change the way you think, and you can change the way you run your life.”

So, the first step in changing the way I think is to assess my potential and what I believe about my potential. In other words, when I ask, “Why do I underlive my life?”, I’m also asking, “What is my potential?”. I’m not really talking about my potential in terms of my nature or my knowledge. Instead, I’m really talking about my potential in terms of my inner desire, my goals, and that part of me that drives to be better every day.

Emotion is the important factor in realizing this part of our potential, according to Tice. We can have the desire to do something, and we can have the ability, but sometimes we can’t seem to release ourselves to do it. So, what is holding us back? Answering that question is the key to living our potential.

And, living your potential is to have high self-efficacy. Self-Efficacy is essentially to make something happen.

My daily life consists of ways to develop my power to bring about the results that I want in my financial life, my love life, my social life, my spiritual life, and the person who I want to be. I look at a problem or a goal and ask, “Is this bigger than me, or am I bigger than it?”

The Lou Tice course material helps people to to grow bigger than those things in front of you, and to take on even bigger goals and aspirations. Dream Big.

Two important principles:

  • You let yourself want what you believe you can cause.
  • Your inner efficacy controls the size of your dreams.

The Millionaire Mind Money Management Plan

Written by Marc Smith on Sep 9th, 2008 | Filed under: coaching, success mindset

One of the most important books that I’ve read during the past year is T. Harv Eker’s Secrets of the Millionaire Mind: Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth.

I want to review and share a savings plan that Eker shares in Chapter 14 called the “Millionaire Mind Money Management Plan”.

Eker begins his chapter with these words:

Rich people manage their money well, Poor people mismanage their money well.

It’s an excellent chapter, and I’m going to share with you a summary of the financial management plan that will set you on the right path to building wealth. It’s important in all things resulting in success that you take action. So, no matter what you can start with, even if it’s a dollar a month, you must take action and begin to manage your money.

Some people say, “Well, when I get ahead financially, I’ll manage my money.” That’s a poor person mindset! The millionaire mind begins to manage now, because if you can manage a little, then you’ll begin to manage a lot. I was SO into this way of thinking in the past. When I turned it around and began to manage money, I started to get wealthy!

Before I share the money management plan, here are some wealth principles from the chapter and that Eker teaches at his Millionaire Mind Intensives.

  • Until you can handle what you’ve got, you won’t get any more!
  • The habit of managing your money is more important than the amount.
  • Either you control money, or it will control you.

So, how exactly do you manage your money?

Here’s a great plan from the book. Remember, it’s important to start, not the amount.

Start with $1 if you must; just start! Get the habit going!

Prepare 6 jars (”Jars” can be literal, or bank accounts, or categories on a spreadsheet). Place the following amounts in each of the jars every month after taxes.

  1. Financial Freedom Account (10%)- used only for investments and buying or creating passive income streams. Money is never spent, only invested. Also, have a Financial Freedom Jar where you deposit money each day ($1, $10, loose change). Do something daily.
  2. Play Account (10%)- Use this money to nurture yourself. Use it for extra-special things in your life. The only guideline is that you must spend the money every month. Use it each month in a way that makes you feel rich!
  3. Education Account (10%) - Set aside money for your education (school, seminars, etc.) or your child’s education.
  4. Long-term Savings for Spending Account (10%)
  5. Giving (10%)
  6. Necessities Account (50%)

Start the plan and let the universe know that you are ready for more money.

Thought Patterns for Success - A Preface

Written by Marc Smith on Sep 7th, 2008 | Filed under: coaching, success mindset

Today, I’m going to start my series on the Lou Tice program, Thought Patterns for Success, from the Pacific Institute. As I’ve said in earlier posts, this program has done more than anything to contribute to my success mindset and personal growth. I’m now a facilitator for the program, and I enjoy sharing these principles with people everyday.

The best thing about Thought Patterns for Success is that it’s rooted in 4 main concepts. These concepts are simple, but they’ll produce results in your life when you put them into practice. You see, Lou Tice is an expert at showing people how the mind actually works.

Lou says, “we do not teach people what to think, we teach them how to think.”

Here are the 4 main concepts that the series is based on…

  1. Personal accountability - The future is in my own hands. I’m responsible for the results in my life. Blaming others or circumstances is not an effective way of dealing with life.
  2. Self-Efficacy - Success doesn’t rest on my abilities, instead it comes from my belief in my abilities. Learning how to believe in my ability makes things happen.
  3. Positive Self-Talk - I move toward what I think. This is an ancient principle that all great leaders have shared. My self-talk is the single most important thing in creating a successful future.
  4. End Result Thinking - Thinking in terms of the goal or possibility helps me achieve my potential.

There you have it. Each post in my series will be based on these 4 concepts.

I’m not selling Lou’s program. In other words, links in this series are not affiliate links. So, although I’m an internet marketer and make money online, I’m not selling anything here. You may see an occasional book link from Amazon, but any links to Lou Tice’s material are affiliate-free (in case that makes a difference to you).

This information has transformed my thinking and life results. I hope you find value in it. The next post will be about “what holds us back”. Until then…all the best!
